To be completely honest with you, I do not wear a watch. Like the home phone, I have just taken it off my list of necessities as I moved the role of this device to my Blackberry. I am addicted to being able to check my email while checking the time. My Blackberry is my “life” in one portable device (there I said it and am proud of that) and isn’t it green to reduce unnecessary things?
We often try to avoid individually promoting Etsy shops on TGB because there are just so many of them that we’d end up doing nothing else. However, we’ve found one that moved us so much not only because the product was beautiful but also because the artist’s story emulated a journey that we think many TGBers could relate to and, as importantly, a portion of all of the profits from the sales of Many Chicks jewelry goes to benefit Mercy for Animals, whose work we admire and consider critical to the ongoing fight for animal rights.
We want to play! Well more specifically we want to play outside, Bright sunny skies have us raring to go but frigid temperatures are forcing us inside. So we were on the lookout for a layering piece that will help insulate us, as we head out for some outdoor fun but not have us walking around like The Abominable Snowman or is it the Michelin Man? Whoever he is, he can’t move and who wants to be outside if you can’t move.
Many of our product reviews are the result of us heading out into the world and looking for a product that will help solve a particular problem. Many of the products we review, also come from our readers, making suggestions to us or asking us to test something out for them. And naturally we do get samples from many companies sent into us for review.
Though we try to minimize all the products we “need” to get through a day, we still have ones that are key to keeping us in business and on the go. From a laptop to biodegradable pens, we have stuff to cart with us as we make our treks though city and country.
So that got us thinking about how we carry our stuff around. Many of us default to using a large reusable shopper. Honestly they just hold so much, though they have become a black hole for some of our staff, who swear these bags (though they only have one section) are able to hide any object from view.
We’ve been looking for some festive, fair trade, ethical clothing scarves to use as wardrobe accents as the weather gets cooler and holiday party season begins to kick into gear. So suffice it to say that we ended up buying all four of these cotton, fairtrade scarves from Taraluna. Yes, we’re suckers for the accent piece!

Fall is about to hit, and not long after that it will be cool evenings spent watching high school football, and soon after that cold runs in the snow to the grocery store and, if you’re lucky, skiing or snowboarding. Unless of course you live in sunny California, but even then it’s fun to dress like it’s winter. That’s where these fantastic fair trade wool floppy toboggan hats with end tassels come into play. Not only are the ethically correct, they’re also super trendy for the teenager or hip adult.

We originally dug this recycled backpack up because we wanted to encourage using ethical clothing and recycled backpacks for back-to-school time in an effort to keep people green with their back to school shopping. However, we fell in love with it so much that we actually started recommending it for everything from a laptop bag to a gym bag and beyond. The backpack is made entirely from recycled jute rice bags.

To be honest, we skip through a lot of t-shirt press releases for green t-shirts these days (absent, of course, our love of the Art as Activism tee!). However, HumanWear’s new line caught our attention, mostly because they were t-shirts that were designed not only with “green” in mind, but also with a sense of being fashion forward. That’s a way of saying “We’d wear them to work (if you work in that kind of place) or out to a club, and we’re pretty sure they’d get commented on either way!”
